I use painting to think, to tell stories, and to explore how the way we see the world is shaped by the information we consume. My work investigates how themes like death, slowness, or personal rupture shift meaning depending on the context in which they are seen—whether through personal memory, media coverage, or collective imagination.
Rather than approach painting through formal or technical concerns, I use it as a narrative device—much like language. My practice often begins with a question or a tension, and unfolds as a series of paintings that approach the theme from multiple perspectives. I’m especially interested in how contemporary flows of information—fast, fragmented, overwhelming—affect our ability to see, feel, or reflect.

I paint recognisable, realistic imagery with expressive, rough brushwork, often accompanied by text or subtitles embedded into the image. At times, I integrate painting with sound, walking, or site-responsive installation, using the exhibition space as a kind of expanded canvas. I think of exhibitions not as containers for finished works, but as works in themselves—experiential narratives made of images, movement, and mood.

My artistic position doesn’t sit comfortably within either traditional painting communities or the broader contemporary art scene. I don’t see painting as nostalgic or retrograde, but as a flexible and living form that still has the power to carry complex, layered thought. I use the tools of modernism when they’re useful, but not as ends in themselves. For me, painting is not something to preserve—it’s something to keep reimagining.
